A Vocaloid Fanfiction: White Feathers - Haku - P16

White. That was the first thing Haku saw when she opened her eyes. Unable to move, all her eyes could see was the white ceiling and the glaring white light shining down on her. For a sickening moment, she thought she was dead. But then fuzzy colours of yellow, blue and red came into her view. Haku could faintly make out different voices as she slipped in and out of consciousness.

When she woke up again, she found that the colours were gone. Snapping her eyes wide open she tried desperately to sit up but to no avail. Both her left leg and arm were in a cast and Haku found tubes and other stuff she had seen on hospital shows in her along with a itch on her head indicating a bandage was wrapped around it. Craning her head, she gave a sigh of relief as she saw her friends. Meiko and Kaito were sleeping on the floor, Kaito's arm around Meiko's shoulder as they cuddled together in sleep. Haku giggled, finding Kaito snoring quite loudly with his mouth hung open, a line of saliva dribbling down his chin and leaking onto Meiko's hair. Haku turned her head the other way to find Neru curled up asleep in an uncomfortable looking plastic chair, her trusty mobile phone clutched in one hand.

All of a sudden, Neru open a sleepy golden eye to find her friend Haku staring at her.

"Haku!" the blonde cried; running over to her. Kaito and Meiko jumped and woke up. Meiko's head bashed Kaito's chin as she straightened up and the poor blue guy was now definitely awake as he rubbed his jawline in pain.

"Haku, we're so glad you're awake and―eughh! What's in my hair?" Meiko put a hand to her head and tried to wipe the sticky spit off her fringe. Kaito blushed and rubbed at his mouth and chin furiously to hide any evidence of dribbling in his sleep.

The three friends were now surrounding Haku, all speaking at once. Haku felt a huge headache coming on and winced in pain. They shut up abruptly and looked worriedly at their friend.

"What…happened?" Haku asked slowly as if it was painful to even talk.

The three exchanged glances and Meiko gave a slight nod.

"You..were hit by a truck, Haku. You ran out into the road and Dell…" Meiko's voice trailed off.

Haku snapped to attention at the mention of Dell's name.

"What about Dell?" she asked.

The three couldn't look her in the eyes.

"WHAT ABOUT DELL?" Haku was now getting very worried.

"He…he ran out into the road to save you and…he took almost the full hit of the blow from the truck," Kaito answered her, swallowing heavily.

Haku gasped, tears springing to her eyes. Suddenly it was like she was hit by the truck again. Her heat sunk and she began to break out into a nervous sweat. Her mind was now showing her memories of Dell. Memories of seeing him at the bar, memories of being with him at his house, memories of him holding her close and brushing her bangs away. But then she saw other memories, memories that were less familiar; like a long-lost dream. Haku saw a younger Dell, laughing and smiling and cuddling her. Images of them holding hands and watching the stars together and kissing under a lamppost in the rain. She saw a younger version of herself as well, happier and free as if nothing bad had ever happened to her. She was a girl in love. But then the happy memories were replaced by darker, sadder ones of Dell shouting at her, her shouting at him. Tears were shed on both sides and she saw herself standing in the middle of a road shrieking something at Dell:
"HONNE DELL, I HATE YOU!"

The younger Haku's words were chut short as the bright lights of a speeding car blinded her and she was knocked to the ground with the sound of Dell yelling and running towards her crying. The last thing she saw was Dell's horrified face above her, tears in his eyes; a distant voice telling her not to leave him. After this, Dell's face melted into darkness as the younger Haku passed out.

Haku was pulled out of her daze by Neru, franticly asking if she was alright and if she could hear them. Haku blinked, the last of her lost memories fading from view and she shook her head. Kaito, Meiko and Neru were all staring at her.

"What..what just happened there, Haku?" Kaito asked, his voice wobbling.

"I…I think I've got my memories back,"

Neru gasped. The two others looked confused.

"But…didn't you already? You remembered all of us after us spending time with you for a while. Me, Kaito, Len, Gumi and all the others. What do you mean?"

Neru shook her head.

"No, Meiko. She may've gotten back her memories of you and our other friends. But…"
Neru glanced at Haku and back at Meiko.

"There was one person who she didn't remember. Because he didn't want her to remember him."

Haku felt a tear run down her cheek. She waited for Neru's answer even if she already knew it.

"Honne Dell. Haku's old boyfriend."
